Solution.

A customer of mine got the same problem today.

Look at the notes folder (and below). You will see some files shown blue, meaning "Compress Contents to Save Disk Space" attribute is in effect. CLose Notes, uncheck this attribute, and do not use this medieval windows "feature" again.
